ABOUT OUR FIRM
DeMott & Smith PC was formed in 1988 to respond to the needs of clients not being effectively serviced in the large CPA firm environment. To fill this need, Thomas J. DeMott and Stephen L. Smith left their partner positions at a large local firm to form DeMott & Smith PC. For nearly twenty years, Tom and Steve have operated their CPA firm with an approach to client relations and firm management unlike any other firm, large or small. Tom and Steve pride themselves on being accessible to their clients. Their approach includes not only financial concerns but personal and family-related issues as well. Our goal is to listen to our clients and understand their needs. These commitments, in addition to our exemplary technical skills, explain why many of our clients have worked with Tom and Steve for over thirty years.

THOMAS J. DEMOTT, CPA
Tom is a founding partner of the firm. For the past thirty years, Tom has specialized in identifying and meeting the needs of professionals, individuals, and closely held businesses. His expertise includes mergers and acquisitions, financing, transition of ownership, tax planning, and related issues affecting businesses and individuals.
A native of Rochester, Tom received his BA degree in accounting from St. John Fisher. After graduating in 1971 Tom worked for several years in national and local accounting specializing in closely held businesses before founding DeMott & Smith PC in 1988...
